Athena™ 2 IR – Two Battery

The Athena™family of beacons has been engineered to be the most durable Infrared marker beacon available. Constructed from a solid billet of aircraft aluminum, the Athena cylinder walls are more than 2.5mm thick making the beacon virtually crush proof. This tremendous strength coupled with a water tight design make the Athena superbly suited for water-to-land and special forces operations.

Principally designed as an individual and K9 Combat Identification marker, the Athena has also been used as a vehicle ID marker, drop zone indicator and perimeter marker.

The Athena 1 transmits a fixed flash rate signal identical to that of the Phoenix Jr. (NSN: 5855-01-438-4588). The signal is turned ON or OFF simply by rotating the beacons bezel. The Athena beacon is powered by the CR123A battery and is offered in either a one or two battery versions. Optional magnetic and non magnetic mounting bas featured2 es are also available for securing the beacon to rigid surfaces such as vehicles Athena 1 includes a 550 cord retention lanyard.
