Originally developed by Cejay Engineering in the 1980’s, the MK1 Lip Light (904112) design provides Pilots a hands-free illumination device for use during flight operations. Since its introduction, the lip light has been widely adopted by civil, military and law enforcement professionals as a necessity for use during low-light maneuvers.
The MK1 Lip Light is specifically designed for use with the Military M87/AIC microphone (MIL-PRF-26542). This microphone and wire boom are commonly fitted to the Gentex HGU-56/P, HGU-84/P, SPH-4B Helmets as standard components.
The MK1 Lip Light is a focused short-range lighting tool providing the operator with immediate supplemental light to aid in the performance of critical tasks. Since its inception, the Lip Lights role and functionality have extended making it a required tool for cockpit, and flight deck.
The MK1 Lip Light uses one SPOT and two FLOOD Super Bright LED’s to light the work area. The operator can easily switch between SPOT, or FLOOD to change the size of the area illuminated. SPOT and FLOOD LED’s can be ordered in different color combinations allowing the same light to be used in different roles.
The MK1 Lip light can also be switched between ON and STANDBY operation. For full-time operation, the user selects the ON mode. In the STANDBY mode the MK1 is momentarily activated by depressing the lip switch on the back of the unit . Powered by 2 AA batteries, the MK1 Lip Light gives the user exceptional performance over weeks of operations. The battery pack is commonly fitted to the helmet exterior or headset.
